I began my Christian walk when I was about 3. I went to church one Sunday and Julia Barge was telling me how she became a Christian and her mom gave her own Bible. So I went home that night and accepted Christ and, of course, got my very own Bible.
As I got older, I started to understand a little more about my faith. But it was at the fall retreat of 2006 that was the most wonderful and most powerful three days of my life. The topic was “ Does God think Your Hot?”. It basically explains the three stages of faith: cold, lukewarm, and hot. Cold is when you shy away from God and avoid all contact. Lukewarm is the spot in between hot and cold. God would rather you be one or the other. Hot is when you are totally on fire for God. In the beginning of the weekend I was lukewarm, and by the end of the weekend, I was definitely hot. That weekend challenged me more than I’ve ever been challenged before.
When I got home I learned I now had to take what I had learned and apply it in my life. After the retreat, I was more confident to share my faith. I read the Bible more, and prayed frequently. Now even after some time has passed since the retreat, I still feel as though I am on fire for God.
My favorite verse in the Bible is actually a chapter--Psalms 23. Whenever I get nervous, or scared, I always think of those verses and they comfort me.
